Hi ,
Welcome to my site!
My name is Ann and I'm a keen photographer who wants to share her views of the world with you!
I love to travel to new places local and overseas but I am a born and bred Mancunian and still live just within the boundary of Greater Manchester, UK. I have been a member of local camera clubs and I would encourage all amateur photographers to join their local club and if you are lucky you may have one or more to choose from not far from where you live. Joining a club can help you to understand your camera and learn how to take better photos. It is good to have contact with like minded people who can help you and see others' photos to give you ideas and what you might want to aim for.
I have used a Fujifilm Finepix HS10 camera, which is a bridge camera - that is between a compact and a full SLR, but now I use a Nikon Coolpix A900. This camera, is a great camera smaller to carry around, lighter for me to hold and fits my requirements for the images I want to have and process. It has a fixed lens but with a very long zoom range, so is able to adjust to the majority of situations where I want to take photos.
I do edit my images but what you see on the final image is what was there at the time, I don't add or take bits away, I do edit the full image and process them in different ways, quite often in painterly or hdr effects. I use simple photo editing programs but not Photoshop - I tend to use Photoscape, Ipiccy and Fotosketcher all free programs that anyone can use.
I gained my first small successes about 20 years ago when I became more interested in taking photos and joined my employer’s photography interest group where I won a couple of awards for the snapshot sections. My life then became more focused around the family, still taking photos but only as snapshots - family holidays etc.
Then about 11/12 years ago I was able to devote more time to photography again, I joined a local camera club and learned how to critique and improve my images and began to take my photography more seriously...... the rest is history as they say!
I hope you enjoy browsing the images on my website , all my images are available to buy as unmounted prints, including greetings cards / notelets versions - details on the 'How to buy' page.
If you are looking for somewhere to go and take photos or just for a day out, don't forget to visit my 'Events' and 'Places to Visit' pages
I hope you enjoy your visit - if you have any comments, suggestions questions please do not hesitate to contact me via the details on my contact page.
Thank you for stopping by!
Ann
